2007 Ferrari F430 Spider
The Ferrari F430 Spider is the latest in a long line of two-seat, race-car-derived roadsters from the exotic Italian automaker. Riding on an updated chassis derived from its predecessor, the 360 Modena, the F430 comes powered by a new, 4.3-liter V8 that can take the car to 60 mph in just under four seconds. A six-speed manual transmission is standard. A six-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually is optional. As is the automaker’s tradition, the Ferrari F430 Spider comes wrapped in stunningly aerodynamic styling and can hug the curves like few other cars on the road. While more purposeful than fanciful in nature, high-tech features include an “E-Diff” electronically controlled limited-slip differential and a steering-wheel-mounted “commutator” control (manettino in Italian), which is used to tailor the Ferrari F430 Spider’s various integrated systems, such as suspension settings, stability and traction control, and how fast the automatic transmission changes gears. The Ferrari F430 Spider’s interior is snug, but once you shoehorn yourself into it, it fits like good Italian leather footwear.
